Snorkel tour worth the money?

Hi all,

On this our third trip, we plan to self-guide snorkel at Punta Sur and between Club Cozumel Caribe and Playa Azul, plus in front of Condumel, where we are staying. Have snorkeled Dzul Ha and Chen Rio before.

After reviewing prior posts, seems like the sights at the off-shore reefs are spectacular. Please weigh in on whether these tours are worth the $110 or so that we would spend to go? and if so, who you like...I've read a lot about 2 Ds and Tiger.

Thanks!

14 sleeps! Talia and Dan

Thanks, Brian! I was just about to message you!! We may just have to rent the bug two days - from Condumel way up north, to Palancar would be a pricey cab there and back, no? We really want to do Punta Sur this time, as last time it was closed.

It would cost you more to go there and back than the rental from Isis is for the day. Punta Sur is great, make sure you stop to look at the crocs. Also a lot of times in the lagoon in front of the parking lot at Playa Palancar you can seen a croc or two.

Hi There: We have done all the trips mentioned except 2D's. Punta Sur is always great. Palancar was just o.k. The boat was mainly for divers and it smelled of fuel. Our favorite snorkeling trip is with Chala at Alberto's on the beach in the south before you reach Palancar. He goes in the a.m. and the p.m. ; hits 3 reefs at a cost of $42. Chala loves what he does and it shows. He will show you sea creatures that you would never notice on your own. There are soft drinks and beer available but it is mainly a snorkeling trip. It is best just to stop in at Albertos and tell them that you want to schedule a trip with Chala. Enjoy!
