Liquor Prices (Tequilas mostly) on Cozumel

We are headed to Cozumel next week and staying in condos this time (not all-inclusive). Is anyone there now that could take a picture of what selections & pricing is on the shelves at Chedraui or Mega? That would be very helpful so we know what we should already have as we leave duty free in US and what we can acquire for same or cheaper there Also trying to figure out if they even have flavored vodkas? Any help appreciated!

Tequila will most certainly be less expensive at supermarkets than at US duty-free.

One way or another, I doubt there is any brand you can find in the US that you won't be able to find on the island. La Europea has a very large selection.

One recent tequila example: Cazadores $25-29USD range at home, and Mega selling it for $15!!. Wanted to throw away all the clothes and fill the suitcases. How many bottles a person???

" How many bottles a person???"

One liter bottle per person to the USA.. Of course, you can take back more and they often will let you enter without paying duty on a reasonable amount. But do declare it when you enter the USA. The fines can be stiff if you are caught not declaring it.

We have bought Don Julio at Mega for close to half the price that it is in the US. Tequila seems to be priced better, but you will most likely pay a little more there for Vodka and most rums than in the US, but not enough less to warrant bringing it with you. That being said if you need a very specific type or hard to find spirit, that you may want to bring.

We find rum and vodka to be much cheaper than in the US. And along with tequila, Kahlua is a real bargain.

I don't recall seeing flavored vodkas, but that's probably because we didn't look for them. Whatever you don't find at the grocers, should be available at Europea.

Tip: Osso Negro vodka is made by the same folks who make Smirnoff, and is a lot cheaper.

Does anyone know if you can find Gonzalez at mega or other stores? I have not been able to locate it in the US - I discovered it while staying at the Palace.

I enjoy the tequila from the "tequila factory". Is there a source for it in town?

Which "tequila factory"?

Pretty much all tequila comes from a factory.

There aren´t any Tequila made in Cozumel. At least not legally since all Tequilas must be made in the state of Jalisco.Mega have a good Tequila Selection,Chedrauii have almost the same but can have a brand that Mega dont have. There is another store which is rather small called Covi on Cozumel that have more premier brands than the groceries store. But thought that the prices was higher than La Europea.Have La Europea open up a branch on Cozumel?
