US State Dept has updated travel warning to Mexico

Specifically, the Mexican Caribbean is excluded from the warning. That includes the entire province of Quintana Roo and Cancun, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, the Riviera Maya, and Tulum; and the province of Yucatan, including Merida and Chichen Itza.

"we need this posted how many times a day?"

As opposed to weather questions, pesos vs USD, etc?

Katzgar, the subject line clearly states what the topic of the thread is, if the subject doesn't interest you or if you feel it's redundant then you can simply not click on it.

Thanks for posting. Our family keeps asking if we are sure we will be safe on our trip because of all the warnings in the media.

Just today someone asked me where I was going on vacation and I said, "Mexico." He said, "Oh, that sounds scary."

What a shame that Mexico gets such a bad wrap. I know there are dangerous areas but so many areas are not! The tourist industry is suffering from all of this bad press. It's a shame people don't listen closely.

That's like saying, "There's bad crime in Texas, so you shouldn't vacation in Florida."

(not that there IS bad crime in TX)

We keep telling everyone it is safe and we REALLY will be complaining about the airfares..... none of "us" - well most likely "us - who are doing our own travel research and logging onto this site while 'at work"' would not be able to afford to go.........

I still say sssshhhhhhhh!
