Anything better to buy at the airport vs. Isla

Like Kahlua? We definitely want to pick some of that up. Usually very cheap in MX.

Should we get that at the airport or work on protecting in both legs of the flight?

Anything else like that?

Thx!

This is what I would do: on your way out of the airport check out the price of Kahlua and whatever else you're thinking of taking home. Then on Isla check them out at Chedraui, etc., and see who has the better price. If Isla does, buy it there; if the airport did, wait till you're on your way home and get it then.

Technically, duty free is 1 litre per person. You can bring in more, but if they want to give you hard time they can charge you duty. One thing I forgot to mention. If you buy it on Isla you have to pack it in your luggage as you're not allowed liquids over 3 oz in carry on. Duty free stuff from airport is an exception.

Yes, it's tricky packing it.

That's a plus on the airport side. But I think you still have to repack it after customs when you go through in the US.

We always fly "carry-on" only, so we're limited to 3oz, and always load up on small bottles of Mexican (always check the label!) vanilla for gifts. Always appreciated by friends and family.

You do have to repack it anyway if you have a connecting flight in the U.S., even if purchased at Duty Free. We've had problems the last two trips home with unopened tequila bottles leaking inside our bags. Ugh.

There are these candies at the airport that I've not seen anywhere else. They are flat rounds of sesame seeds and pepita seeds in a sugar base. I love them and have been buying them for years at the convenience type shops. That is the only thing I've found worth buying at the airport!

Yes that repack is a mess. Normally they do an okay job with the bubble wrap. Maybe I will bring some extra saran wrap. I had a bottle of tequila bust in our overhear on a flight.

Smelled tequila for 3 hours.

I am sure my wife will go for the candy.
