cell phone reception

I have just discovered that we will be able to use our cell phone, according to Rogers in Canada , in Mexico albeit at $3.50 per minute. We will be in Chicxulub and would really appreciate hearing from ayone who has used their phones in this part of Mexico. Was the reception decent and when dialing out to Canada did you just dial 1 plus area code plus number or some other procedure?

We are leaving on Jan 30, so any info ASAP would be greatly appreciated.

I just left Cancun two weeks ago.. I have a Sprint network and was able to receive calls without a problem. It sounded like I was next door on the roaming network. I wasnt able to make calls or text msg. to the US but not my goal while on vacation. What is the point of staying in touch otherwise, you would've bought the person along.

My daughter, who lives in California, used her cell phone flawlessly in Merida and Playa del Carmen.

However, the bill was a bit of a shock. Watch your minutes!
