snorkel trip report

We returned from PDC after 4 fun filled days in the sun! We went on two snorkel trips with Mexico Blue Dream and highly recommend them. THey are a small dive shop that specializes in personal attention and small groups. They rarely have more than 2 - 4 persons on any excursion. We went to Cozumel for a morning tour (we paid the ferry fee) and then to Akumal and Yal-Ku lagoon for an afternoon tour. We had friendly guides (the owner, Patrice and a great young lady, Jill) who were knowledgable and ready to work around our needs and desires. They were professional and charming; we hope others think so too!

Akumal is a great calm lagoon with a shallow slope to the beach and water. It is great for beginner swimmers/snorkelers. We saw turtles, a sting ray and squid. There were not a lot of fish there. Nearby (5 min. drive) is Yal ku, a protected area for snorkeling. We saw tons of fish! The water is very clear and there are lots of shallow areas (you can sometimes stand on the rocks). It is great for first timers and there is no wave action. Don't wear sunscreen, to protect the fish and coral. Water was cool, so was the air temp when we were there, so wet suits provided by Mexico Blue Dream were much appreciated!

The cost was $50 each to visit both places. Transportation was included.

worfrn,

Where did you book the Mxico Blue Dream Akumal trip? I didn't see anything on their website about it.

Thanks

You can email them via their website and they'll respond. I did, and they said it was $50 each for either a morning trip or afternoon. You have to meet them at their storefront in town. I think we'll go on our own though via cab.
