Small beach village

Can anyone suggest a small beach village for a quiet vacation? Good swimming, fresh seafood, friendly people, a restaurant or two, a place to hike or bike (and bike rental?) and a clean, safe, beautiful place to stay on the water for a single adult woman. I'd even forgo Internet access! I'd be flying down from Colorado. I speak some Spanish. An adventurous bus ride wouldn't be a problem. Thank you!

By the way, I'm sure others have posted on this subject, but have the flights come down in price due to Swine flu?

We loved our week in Majahual when we were there back in '05 and on cruise stops in '06 and '07. There was tremendous hurricane damage just later but my it is my understanding things are wonderful again. That whole stretch of QR is magnificent and off the beaten tourist route. It is, however, a long ride (at least 4.5 hours) and arranging transportation is if you don't want to rent a car can be difficult. I am not sure of bus connections to Majahual. Maybe the Majahual forum can be of help.

Tulum would also be a great choice, much closer and the accommodations, food and beaches are great. Check out Locogringo.com for detailed info specific to Tulum.

Hope this helps

Akumal or Tulum would be my suggestions. Enjoy!
