What do the following cost in Playa?

Lunch or dinner in a modest but good local restaurant ( two or three courses and a drink).

A beer or cocktail in the "average" priced bar.

A sunbed and umbrella rental on the beach (this could also be admsission for a day to a beach club).

A six pack of beer in a small market or supermarket.

Am I missing anything obvious?

I am sorry, I just had to say this....

Lunch- $20

Cocktail-$5

Sun bed on beach-$30

Six pack of beer-$8

Sitting on the beach with the one you love-PRICELESS

By the way I made up those prices, I have no idea. I just couldn't pass on this obvious famous quote! Have a great tip! We leave tomorrow! YEAH!!!

Thirsty Gringo, I can't believe lunch or dinner is $75. Get off 5th Avenue.

Try El Fogon it is listed in the Restraunt review section. The food and drinks were really cheap. Party of 4 with tip was under $30.00us 11-08.

You can find beer for around 2-3us at the bars.

When we eat dinner we usually pick middle-of-the road to pretty nice restaurants, usually off 5th because we've done those anyway, and our bill with drink(s) usually comes to around $60-$75 for FOUR.

Lunch is much, much cheaper.

I was quoting a lunch for two with a few beers. It was for three courses, not just tacos as the poster requested.

I guess it depends on what you want. (A good restaurant with three courses will not be cheap).

Here is a link to Yaxche menu:

mayacuisine.com/artwork/menus/yaxche_eng.pdf

A couple of Shrimp Panuchos 2 x 77 pesos = 154

Four tamales 127 pesos

A couple of Mayan crepes for desert 2 x 87 = 174

All washed down with four beers 4 x 34 = 136

Add a 10 % tip and you have 700 pesos.

Not to far off the $750 I suggested, then again, I would be drinking more.

There are lots of cheaper place but the poster asked for a good place with 3 courses.

I hope this helps.

I have to admit when I saw Thirsty Gringo's response (750 pesos) I was totally shell shocked and wondered if we would be better off returning to Puerto Morelos again (where our dinner for two cost 150 to 250 pesos with drinks included). Then I found reviews of El Fogon and was very relieved! We love to eat most of our meals where the locals or expats eat. However the restaurant Thirsty Gringo provided links to would be a nice change, as long as we didn't have to pay those prices every day! One of appeals of Mexico for us is the low costs, relative to the USA or Europe. Thanks to all for you valuable input. We now have a much better feel for the range of restaurant costs.
