Iberostar Paraiso Maya

How far is this resort from Cancun airport and also from Playa del Carmen?

We are looking to go in early December. I am assuming there shouldn't be many children since they should be in school. Do others agree? Is there usually a lot of kids at this resort?

Another question....is the Paraiso Maya and Paraiso Lindo the same resort?? They look a lot alike. Are they near each other? Has anyone been to both and have a preference?

Distance from airport is probably 25 to 30 miles. Distance to Playa is about 12 miles. We have been to the Lindo twice and the Maya once. They are across from each other and share the same pool and a lot of the same dining facilities. If you stay at the Maya, there is one restaurant, the Gourmet, that is not open to those staying at the Lindo. There are also individual private pools located within each building at the Maya. All of the rooms are Junior suites, slightly larger than an ordinary room. There are usually more children staying at the Lindo but in December there should not be many. That said either one is a beautiful place to stay with excellent service. Enjoy for me!

About 45 minutes from Airport to Lindo/Maya if you are not stopping someplace else. Resort is about 20 minutes South of Playa del Carmen.

You can go to www.iberostar-board.com -- that is an UNOFFICIAL board dedicated to all IB resorts.

If you want a guarantee of no children, the IB Grand is adult only and amazing. We have stayed at the IB Tucan, IB Del Mar and the Grand, and the Grand is in a class by itself.

Im also a big fan of remvoing the transfers from your package price and doing a private transfer. With the private you only have your party in an AC van DIRECT to your resort. When you do transfers from a package you stop at other resorts and can add ALOT of time to you getting to your place. We have used Cancun Valet many times.

Have a great time

As stated, the Lindo and Maya share most facilities except the gourmet and the Japanese restaruants which are for Maya guests only. There are only three private pools (not one for each building) and they are for just Maya guests. The rest of the Lindo/Maya facilties are shared. As a guest of the Maya you can use all the facilities of the Lindo, Del Mar and Beach. All the resorts are right beside one another.

The Maya also has elevators in the buildings which the others do not.

It is about a 25 minute ride from the airport and a 20 minute ride to Playa. There is a shuttle to Playa that runs four times a day for about $4 each way.

Kids seem to be there no matter when you go, so no guarantees there. If you want adults only, upgrade to the IB Grand which is spectacular.
