IB Quetzal or Paraiso Lindo

Whats your thoughts on what would suit us better??? Couple 40s, no kids, beach lovers, not food snobs, like relaxing and reading in the sun, bit of snorkelling.....

Been to a few AI in the area ranging in cost and liked each of them but they were all different. Grand Palladium, Royal Playa Del Carmen, El Dorado Casitas.

Can get a really good price for both and dont know what to do.

wee_bee..................................read the TA reviews on both resorts and check thru travellers photos, factor in travel distance from airport to resort, other resorts in complex, things to do nearby...what does the beach look like, what might you want to do off the resort, and how far away would you be...I think the Lindo is a nicer resort........................

The Lindo is a really beautiful resort - loads of options with the ability to choose lots of different restaurants and go to the Beach/Del Mar pool and restaurants as well. I agree with the prior poster that the Lindo has nicer facilities than the Quetzal.

That being said, we love going to the Quetzal for several reasons and will be going there in late April. We actually prefer eating at the buffets and we want to be near Playa to have a couple of nights where we go into town and eat there. Also, we think the Quetzal is a really relaxing place and small enough to that nothing is too far away. In the end, most people prefer the Lindo for the facilities and variety, but for us, the Quetzal is the one we keep returning to.

You cannot go wrong with either property, both are lovely and have great beaches! The Lindo has more air conditioned areas and like previously stated, nicer facilities. On the other hand, the Lindo has more concrete, a less secluded tropical feel and is part of a huge resort complex consisting of 5 large resorts.

My husband I go almost every year, and we always go back to the Quetzal. I prefer the open air buffet atmosphere, jungle paths and smaller, laid back vibe to the larger resort feel of the Lindo and it's complex.

The one other thing to consider is the Lindo is closer to the airport, but further from the town of Playa Del Carmen, the Quetzal is a five minute cab ride to downtown.

And at Lindo you can dine a la carte every night, plus you have use of the Beach, Delmar and most of the facilities at Maya - you just cant use the GRAND.

Paraiso complex used to offer bus rides to playa for about $4 - not sure if they still do or what the price is now. But pay attention to the TIMES and where the pick-up/drop offs are in Playa. Otherwise its an expensive taxi ride back.

Plus they have the large commercial center at the Paraiso complex and the little restos there are included in the AI price.
