I'd say you can have dinner at a number of great restaurants around your hotel for about 1,200 pesos (about £60) for both of you. That would include soup, an appetizer, main entree, dessert and a bottle of wine. Many times the restaurant will offer something for free, such as the soup. If you go to Lateral's and look over the menu and talk to the host and ask a few questions, they will include a bottle of wine for free. They included soup last time as well, most unique presentation as well. This is one of the best restaurants in Playa. Sur's down the block from Lateral's is one of the most expensive, but we have more appetizers that we share and then share an entree. Piola's has excellent pizza and pasta dishes and two can eat dinner here with wine for not 500 pesos, including those basil martinis ( are those ever good).

Just about every restaurant in Playa has a menu posted out front in Spanish and English with prices in pesos. Just divide the pesos by Pound, Euro or usd conversion rate (12.85 for usd). Servers work for tips (propina) and check the bill to see if propina was already added. 10% is standard, 15 for excellent service. When you are ready to go just ask for the la cuenta (cwenta). Most restaurants will not give you the bill until you ask for it.
