Hope you enjoyed it. Were booked to go in May for 17 Nights.
What were the drinks like on the AI ? I'm particulary interested in the the wine, scotch and cognac that they offer.
Is there any fishing offered around the resort or do you have to go into playa to get the trips?
Can you book excursions from the resort or is it better to go into playa to book them?
Thanks in advance
Hi Jeepher..I want to know everything about this resort. (lol) It is one of the ones we are considering for a trip in Apr that will consist of 17 people including my 75 year old mom and dad.
Is it senior friendly , but lively enough for the rets of us?
We would like to know about the bars and if they make caesars for us Canadians and do they offer any shots, like Sambuka for instance? What about their red wine, is it drinkable? We can always fall back on Corona if need be.
How large are their pools, they look very small in the pictures.
The beach looks amazing, is it? So many resorts in the area do not have nice beaches.
And lastly the food, would you consider it average or above average?
Thanks....any help you can give me would be appreciated.
Did you meet any fun people there ...LOL
You must of made it home in one piece...wishing we were back there :( Got back into Milwaukee at mid-night. Having a bit of the effects from SANDY...windy and cooler. God bless the people on the east coast.
Woke up Sunday morning wanting to go to the buffet ..and guess what...we were back to reality...and no buffet.
May get to a review this week end ....it may help with some of you questions.

Disneychicks....you can't keep me hanging like that...okay, out of 10..what would be a quick review?
Glad you're home safe and sound.
LOL I've stayed at the Allegro Cozumel Kimmie, and caesars were NO problemo! My mum was in heaven. If Playacar's like Coz, the booze will not be high end, with two choices of wine: red and white. Its drinkability varies, too. Sometimes it's been great, sometimes it's been swill.
I'd love to stay at this one sometime. Who do Canadians book it through, though? I never see it come up as an option.
HI Desmei.. Thanks for the info. I found it on Trip Central, Nolitours and I believe it is with CanJet, but we're still trying to find another carrier as the travel time su#@s with CanJet.
Hi Gib tiger & kimmie,
What are the drinks like? I did get the white wine one night it was very dry. I like it a little sweeter. I didn't try the red wine, there's something in red wine that gives me a head ache. I didn't try the scotch or cognac... I don't know if they have it or not.....SORRY. I did more of the sweet mixed fruity drinks. If you tip a little they tend to put more & better alcohol in your drinks. We did tequeila shots at night up by the bar where you eat dinner. They had Jose or 1800. We were tipping so Ivan would make all kinds of different yummy shots for us without asking. Some shots he would light on fire and then we had to drink it fast through a straw.....Fun.
There are two pools one that has the music and activities and a quieter pool. The quiet pool is bigger and the activity pool is smaller. Both pools are small compared to many of the resorts, but you have the ocean to play in..:)
Fishing trips? I have the flyer I got at the dive stand they have at the resort. It says fishing trip small boat $390 USD through barracuda dive center. I don't
know if that's a good deal or not. There also is snorkeling, parasail and wave runner rentals too right from the resort. As far as the other excursions there is a guy at the front that deals in excursions to the pyramids, and some of the X parks. His prices seemed ok. We didn't use him this time we took a taxi to Xcaret, Xplor and Akumal. Taxi was about 155 peso to get to Xcaret and Xplor and about 150 peso to get back. We did one park per day. Got there when the parks opened and stayed until they closed. We still didn't see everything at Xcaret. Akumal was about $38 to go down and $30 to come home.
The beach was so big and beautiful. We walked along the beach to 5 Ave. It took about 20min. Glad we stayed where we did. The other resorts are too big for us with too many people. The closer into town there were some rocks and more sea weed on the shore.
The food I thought was above average they had a good selection at the buffet. Rooms are not fancy, but they are clean. We had a awesom room on the 2nd floor. Full view of the ocean. Rm 5614 and we aren't part of the vacation club. Just placed a request in with Erika Padillia.
Senior friendly? The only steps there are is if you get a second floor room. So maybe a first floor room would be better for the older people. Other than that it is easy to walk around. They have some kind of disco that goes til 2am but it is a little small. There is a pool table in it.
This is my second time to the resort. The entertainment isn't as good as before, but it is ok. Last time they had there own dance group. This time we only had two professional dance shows. The other entertainment was funny games.
I would rate this resort a 7 on a scale of 1 - 10. I love it there and will go back again.
Any other question? I hope I answered some of them.Edited: 01 November 2012, 02:43
Hi! I did meet some pretty fun people there. :) I miss everyone already. I hate being home. Want to go back ASAP.......Made it back in one piece. Flight was very bumpy but smooth clearing customs. Had a lot of time to spare. Ate dinner in airport and almost walked out without paying. We forgot for a second where we were....(LOL). Tell Little Disneychick Happy Holloween...get lots of candy, but don't forget to brush :) I will e-mail some of the turtle pics. over the weekend. I need hubby to help me. Weather is nice here in the low 80's. I feel bad for all the people on the east coast. I pray things get back to normal for them soon. I'm glad that you guys are ok. Talk to you soon.
Many thanks for your reply and info.
Thanks for your reply Jeepher. The more I hear about this resort , the more I am convinced this is the one for us.
