Sandos Playacar Questions

My family and I will be staying at the resort Dec. 22nd thru Dec. 28th. We are deciding which restaurants to make our reservations at. I am under the impression that the Mediterranean restaurant specializes in sea food during their dinner al a carte hours. Is this true? If this is the case what other options are there on the menu during these hours.

Also, I have read numerous times that a cab ride to 5th Ave. is $7.00. Is it $7.00 per person or total? I know this is really naive but I have never ridden in or paid for cab fare!!!!

It's about $7 per way and it's up to 4 people. Just ask the conciege at the hotel and he will confirm. On your way back, always confirm how much they will charge you to go where you are going before you get in, that way they don't try to charge you more when it's too late.

Have a look at this thread for some dining options:

Hola

Also was on their menu from the Mediterranean Ala Carte is, Greek Salad: with tomato, cucumber, fete cheese, and black olives top with basil vinaigrette and paisley detail. Appetizers: Beef Carpaccio, traditional beef filet marinated Italian style. Main course: Grilled Chicken supreme with green pepper sauce, perfumed with brandy and served with potatoes and stuffed zucchini. Other than seafood.

I was wondering what that smell was...it must be the brandy perfume.

Menus change so cut and paste from an old menu only gives an idea what the meals MIGHT be. However that paisley detail is kind of 60's...

Taxi rates for 1-4 passengers from Playacar to the taxi stands along 5th are 70 pesos. (So the dollar figures depend on exchange rate.) Always use pesos as it is the national currency and you will get better value. Current exchange is around 12.5 per dollar.

Taxis charge per zone....stay within the zone and it is cheaper. Within Playacar it is 50 pesos so go to the north end of Playacar and hop out at the PP. Then walk in right on 5th through the mall.

Yes, Mexicans can get cheaper taxi rates...enjoy being a tourist.
