Lunch options close to beach northern Playa

We will be staying close to Calles 38 and 40 and plan to spend mornings on the beach, take an hours break, have lunch and then return. Other than beach clubs can someone recommend some good choices, a short walk from or even on the beach? I've already earmarked La Cueva del Chango as a definite. Food types could be everything from Mexican to Italian Caribbean and even Asian, but no American style food.

Piola's is across the street from La Cuevo del Chango and is a great inexpensive restaurant for pizza, pasta, sangria and basil martinis.

El Pirata would be a great choice for lunch.

I'm sure you will quickly discover Canibal Royal Beach Club.

I'm not sure if Luna maya is open for lunch, the little sandwich shop on the ground floor will be open.

La Portena is just the otherside of 5th Ave on 38. It's next door to Kools.

Origenes is across from Cueva del Chango on Flamingos,

also walk down the beach to the road between Mamitas and Kools , Calle 28, and go to Bro Chetas in the Aldea Thai condo building.

sorry Bro Chetas might be more american style... but still worth a try!

Speaking of Veria Lucias a little further south is La Fragata – It is on 24th Street between 5th Avenue and 1st Avenue

If you try let me know how it is, it's supposed to have good seafood!

I checked Bro Chetas facebook page and they are billing themselves as a mexican seafood restaurant, so maybe a new menu when they re-open.

How about a nice Cuban sandwich at La Bodequita del Medio. 1 long block south of 38 Calle on 34 Calle and 5th Avenue. Listen to a little music, have some good Cuban food.
