Thomson Gatwick to Cancun (not dreamliner) - economy help

Hi,

We are visiting playa del carmen in september, flying from London Gatwick to Cancun with Thomson (not on the dreamliner).

Can anyone help me with regards to the service i should expect in Economy class.

I understand meals are included - are there any free drinks at all (ie with meals)?

What about the entertainment - is it on demand, or are movies on a loop?

What is everyone's view overall of this service/flight?

Thanks

Hi Paul we too are travelling in September to Playacar with Thomson/First Choice from Birmingham. We didn't upgrade to premium as the costs were too high. You are likely to get a free drink eg orange juice carton with your meal. Not sure about an alcoholic beverage but wouldn't have imagined so.

Have a gander at the below which Angie posted, in flight guide.

I cant comment on the service as its a long time since I flew with Thomson.

Hi I've done quite a few longhaul with thompson & Thomas cook ..

And have upgraded most times ..

But this your i went to India and didn't upgrade ..

It was better than i thought ..

No drinks are included .. You aphave to buy all of then ..

The movies are on a loop so you can't stop & start them but you can pay to upgrade so you can do that .

And get extra films ..

We have just booked Mexico not upgraded our flight ...

Sorry travel girl just have to correct that last statement, you no longer have to upgrade for pause/rewind etc and extra movies. I understand it used to be £5 a person to upgrade to what the premium passengers got but from this summer its all included for economy & the headphones are too.

Really good to hear you enjoyed your economy flight. :) reassuring on such a long flight.

Economy passengers will get tea, coffee or cold drinks(fruit juice) with their meals but all other drinks will be chargeable.

Concerning inflight entertainment its all on demand for all passengers now, no upgrading needed. You will have the facility to stop, start, pause etc your own TV screens.

Angie.

Just back from Mexico yesterday entertainment is about 12 films or so watch what you want, also some tv programmes, radio channels and a few games. Also a list of cds so you can make up your own playlist. The kids tv channel is on a loop. Food was fine and any drinks were payable apart from the ones you get with your meal

Hi, just returned from a two week trip to Mexico flying to Cancun from gatwick.

Flew out on a Thomas Cook 767 but came back on the dreamliner. Entertainment was great there and back, food choice of films (all free) music, comedy, games etc. First time long haul and with a 11 hour flight I was worried about being bored. I wasn't and really enjoyed the flight. Service and food really good :) Have fun

<<Flew out on a Thomas Cook 767 but came back on the dreamliner.>>

Was that a typo that you flew out on a Thomas Cook 767, not a Thomson 767 !

Outbound you get one main meal about 2 hours after take off and then a snack 90 minutes before landing and Inbound you get a main meal and breakfast.
