Cost of two chairs and umbrella at Mega or Walmart

We like to bring beach chairs and an umbrella to the beach, but many of the condos we are looking at don't provide them. I thought we might just buy very cheap chairs and an umbrella while in Mexico and just leave them at the condo for others to use after us.

What could we expect to pay for these? Obviously quality is not too important.

spoke with a couple while in Mexico and they bought some stuff at Walmart and said it was a little cheaper, if not the same as in the US.

For what it's worth, beach gear is not readily available in the high season (winter).

Camp style chairs will be about 300 pesos and a beach umbrella around 120 pesos.

hmm, that's too bad. With the exception of Canibal Royal we didn't care for any of the beach clubs.

If your staying for a extended period a good option is a trip to Costco in Cancun - they have a more reliable supply of better beach gear at good prices.

We have never had any luck finding an umbrella at Walmart or Mega. To the point where be brought one down last trip!

There are always the palapas next to Kool... they now charge to use them but at least you can bring your own chairs and a cooler.

At Walmart, we bought two neat folding chairs that have backpack straps on them for easy carrying. I think they were 300pesos each, so like $25US. Liked them so much we took them home. Fit through the xray scanner & then in the overhead bin perfectly.

SeaBass did you use the chairs as your carryon item then? or was this in addition to a carryon?

No we also had (for two people) a roll-aboard suitcase plus two small plastic bags with food & travel stuff. Just had the chairs on our backs and nobody stopped us. And we fit most of it under the seat so we weren't overhead storage hogs. We were on United, CUN-ORD nonstop, regular scheduled air. Maybe charters are different.

I've seen people carry over sized suitcases, plus backpacks, plus food, plus souvenirs in bags, and nobody stopped them, even with the one carry on rule. Hmmmm....
