I am doing research for our first Mexico trip next year (husband and I, March 21-28th) and just weighing all our options. We were looking to stay at ERC resort in Puerto Morelos...but then again...we aren't the type to stay in too much. We want to go to Mexico to relax and also see the country and experience the culture as much as possible. A 5 star resort will certainly be awesome, but as pointed out by someone in TA, won't probably be worth it if we plan to travel. Which we do. I'd also would like to spend our money in a nice, comfortable, authentic Mexican place and actually see the country...than spend it mostly at a resort we will be out of half the time.
Puerto Morelos isn't giving me much option regarding the B&Bs...so wondering if PDC is a good base for the following places we want to see:
Tulum ruins (go ourselves by taxi)
Coba (with Ecab Explorer)
Day trip to Puerto Morelos (the town, on our own by taxi)
Day trip to Isla Mujeres (on our own)
Chichen Itza (with Ecab)
If it is, please recommend a B&B or a good hotel and dining options. Our budget is around $3,000-4,000 USD (inc. airfares).
