chichen itza less expensive

Hi Everyone

We have a group of eight going to pdc in december. I have been looking at tours for chichen itza. trying to avoid the 80 dollar per head charge for the bus ride and lunch. I was wondering if any of you knew what the standard admission price at the door was at chichen. Can we hire a guide when we get there? Maybe we can rent a van for the day. maybe save 20-30 dollars a head. Any help you can offer would be appriciated. Thanks!

We went last month the 4 of us (2 kids and my husband) from Cancun with grayline taxi cancun and we paid $55 per people. They pick us up at the hotel in the morning. The ride to Chichen took like 3 hours. Inside the ruins we had a guide included and our lunch at the Mayaland hotel which is inside the ruins. We really enjoyed the day there. I don't know the price from Playa del Carmen but the difference should not be that much...

Admission was $10 each. We got offer for guide at $30 at gate. We should have done that. and looked for someone to share cost

Mayab bus line is a lot less than $80/person, probably less than $20/person according to someone we met at Grand Mayan. That is waht they did.
