music on the beach in Tulum?

What is the live music scene like at the beach in Tulum and in downtown Tulum? We stumbled upon some beautiful violin and guitar music in Akumal last year and wish I had kept the name of the group.

In high season there's a fair amount of live music on the beach, depending on the night. Most nights there's live music at Zamas' Que Fresco restaurant. Sunday nights, even in off season, is the big salsa dance party at La Zebra, with a live band. Big DJ techno party on Friday nights at Mezzanine, and there are Sunday afternoon beach parties at Playa Azul and Om, though live music there will vary.

Other places all along the beach, including Retiro Maya, Cabanas Tulum (Ziggy Beach Club) and others will have live music from time to time. You'll just have to check the signs as you're driving around, or ask at your hotel when you get there.

There's also live music in the pueblo, more amped up since they're on the grid, and they'll play later than the beach (which usually rolls up by 11).

Zamas has live music and dancing which is always fun!!!!

Sunday nights La Zebra for Salsa dancing and always a really good band.

I often do the party at Mezzanine but that is with a DJ.

Hope this helps you.
