Honeymoon in Tulum

I'll be getting married in Belize and would like to spend a week in Tulum for my honeymoon. Do any of you have any cool, palapa-cabana type eco lodges that you would recommend for mid-August? I'm trying to stay in the $200 a night range, give or take. Thanks!

Look at Nueva Vida de Ramiro, with the added plus of having a turtle nest sanctuary right on site, so in August you might well catch some baby turtle hatchings. They don't include the 19% tax in their rates, so you'll have to figure that, but they do include breakfast and it has all the palapa eco thing you seek (I think). Write them now, though, since they do book up well in advance.

Also look a Amoreira, which is a different style of place, elevated rooms connected by catwalks. They have continental breakfast and a shared kitchen where you can store some food.

Tita Tulum also has the palapa roof eco thing going for it, #5 and #1 are probably the best rooms there, but it's a bit older than Nueva Vida or Amoreira. Still, great decks and they do include taxes in their rates but no breakfast.

We just got back from a B&B- Villa Dolce Vita that only has 2 rooms available to rent out. Would we go back? HECK YES! It was so peaceful & quiet. It was literally 39 steps from my the back door of my room to the beach/waters edge! They also have a pool that was beautiful! We were served breakfast every morning. There is a great place nearby called Oscar & Lalo's that was AMAZING! We ate there 3 times during our 6 days.

They have a keeper named Gaspar who keeps the place very clean, including the beach. He goes out every morning & rakes the sea grass back out to the ocean along with coral that may have washed up, so it makes it very easy to walk on the beach without shoes. The view over the ocean is spectacular. The sun rises over the ocean from the view you have too.

They are about 8km from Tulum. It's a private beach too which made it great. Kris & Connie are great hosts too. They gave great tips & ideas of places to go for eating or shopping. Also- the Tulum Mayan ruins are only about 10 minutes away!

Go to: tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g2578752-d61371… to see more about them including photo's.

If you want to see if they are available during the time you want, email them directly @ khw@catskill.net. (I'm in the process of updating my review of VIlla Dolce Vita, so it may or may not be showing.) Feel free to message me if you have any questions! They'll be able to give you the rates during that time. They also cater to people's food/allergy needs for breakfast.
