Red Light Green Light

I know they are supposed to be replaced with all baggage screenings done behind the scenes so checking to see if anyone that has been down recently still had to play the game or if it is gone now??

I was there in May and the lights were still there. Maybe someone who has been there more recently can provide an update.

I wouldn't like our bags screened without us being there to see what they go thru. The red light green light seems to work fine

Thank you everyone!! I end up taking at least 1 suitcase of Kids clothes down for Solmar Foundation and ask everyone with me to do the same so since there aren't any kids travelling with us, I just hate it because if one of us gets stopped it is 20 questions and then they want us to pay tax on stuff we are donating. The new system will be much less stressful from my point of view lol

The system shouldn't change the process with the exception of the lights.

It is said that they will simply x-ray all bags before the carousel and will likely still do so after you retrieve your bags. It appears very random how all this is done anyway. I have had the red light and no hand inspection and most times even with the green light, have had my bags sent through the x-ray and some or all hand inspected.

I doubt the discontinuation of the red/green lights will change anything.

From what I understand, the real change is the x-ray of bags before you retieve them. The US Customs dept has been doing this for decades. Ever wonder why it takes so long for bags to hit the baggage claim on international flights?
