Snorkling

Is the snorkling off lovers beach GREAT, GOOD, or no fish to see. We are staying at Grand Solmar and was wondering if its worth climbing rocks to snorkle

Thanks to everyone for all the information that you provide

It is ok. Nothing like the Caribbean or Hawaii if that is what you are used to. A big problem is that area is so small and there are usually so many boats and water taxis that it can be dangerous to try to snorkle there. Try to go early in the morning or late in the afternoon when it's not so busy.

Santa Maria and Chilano are both much better places to snorkle although those would require renting a car or booking a snorkle cruise.

Also, carrying gear over the rocks would be quite a chore. Early in the morning grab a water taxi over from the marina.

On a visit last week, we grabbed a local fisherman and asked him to take us to Chilano. We spent an hour there snorkeling, and he charged us $30 and we tipped him well.
