Oysters

We arrive in Cabo in two days. I've been asked to find a restaurant that serves quality, fresh raw oysters.

We are staying at Cabo Villas and would prefer a restaurant we can walk to.

We are a couple in our 50's bringing our girls (20's) for their first trip to Cabo and want to ensure they have a great holiday.

Any suggestions?

I'm not sure I have ever seen oysters in Cabo. Coming from Seattle where we have amazing cold water oysters I'm not sure they even have them although we were pleasantly surprised with the fresh gulf oysters we had in Florida last week so maybe?

There are amazing mussels harvested from the La Paz area that are seasonal. Salvatores serves them and they are so good!

We have had the raw oysters at Mariscos Mocambo a couple of times. They're small, but good. I imagine other seafood restaurants have them, but have never noticed. I don't know if Mocambo makes their own habanero sauce, many restaurants do if you ask, but I'll bet it would be good on the oysters.

We had some delicious oysters at Los Barrilles on one of our last visits. If we're staying on Medano Beach side we usually catch a cab there and walk back enjoying all our favorite bars along the way plus burning off some of the calories.

According to chowhound Mexico is the 6th largest producer of oysters in the world. But they are a lower quality then cold water oysters.Much of them are eaten cooked not raw since there are issues with food safety according to the chowhound article on Mexican oysters

I have seen raw oysters at both Marisco las Tres Islas and at Mariscadas. Mariscos El Guero Cameron is a place that serves ONLY RAW seafood.

My best seafood meal in Cabo last trip was at Los Barilles. Fantastic octopus.

The best Raw Oysters ever was at the "Art and Beer" restaurant just outside of Cabo on the way to Todos Santos. The gave us the biggest, tasty, chilled Oysters Ive ever had. Worth going to just for the Oysters. But Art and Beer restaurant with its boardwalk around all the art sculptures is a destination in itself. Such a cool funky place.
