Recommendations for a day trip please

Hi, We are planning on visiting this weekend with the family - 5 adults, 3 kids (aged 5, 9 & 13) and a dog. Just looking for a nice day out, it of time on a beach, some crabbing, nice lunch etc etc. Advice please on where to head to please - beaches you would recommend, places to park, cafes etc etc - any advice greatly appreciated. Thank you

One of my all time favourites. I'm not sure about the policy on dogs but I've seen them on the beach and in the park in the Spring.

And made a mistake, you can't go to Osea Island, that is private.

You can go to Point Clear, which is "kind of" near St Osyth.

I really recommend the Seaview café near one of the caravan parks - sorry I can't recall which one! We always eat there on Mersea, best café food ever. Opposite there is a big beach with gorgeous beach huts. Further up the road (again a local may be able to help, or ask at the café) there is a floating pontoon which is a crabbing magnet. Last time we were there a seal came along to watch us!
