christmas / new year getaway

hi we are a couple from the uk and been in Saskatchewan for 6 months working, we are heading home January so looking for some ideas for Christmas and maybe new year, was going to stay at home and have a little dinner etc but thinking it would be nice to celebrate a nice white Christmas in style , i might of left it to late but worth looking into, would love a log cabin out in the woods but guess so does everyone , like to stay in Canada so our visa don't expire.

Hi fern ~

Not sure quite what your question is.

As you know Canada is 6 time zones wide, so posting on this forum does not narrow things down at all. Do you have a province(s) in mind? You would be best to post on a forum at the provincial level to get some direction.

Let people know if you are willing to fly somewhere and if you will rent a car, and your dates.

In terms of cottages, I think it would be fair to say that most of them have been closed by their owners for the winter. Electricity disconnected, water turned off, perhaps windows covered for storm protection.

What about taking VIA Rail from Saskatchewan to Jasper for some quality snow time there? If that interests you might enquire on the Canadian Rockies forum.
