Tips for 20 year old somethings

Hello!!! Just looking for some advice/travel tips for an upcoming trip planned to Ixtapa. There are four of us going aged 25. We are looking for fun, not overly priced attractions and things to do while we are traveling. Also, if anyone has advice for things to be weary about....PLEASE let me know!

Thanks!

Here are some "must do" in Ixtapa.

1)Ixtapa Island, take the bus to Playa Linda(60 cents) Go to the pier and take the water taxi(3 bucks). Upon arrival walk straight thru to the other side. 2 buck beers, and good food around 10 bucks each, great snorkling. Water is clearer in the AM and the tides stir up the sand later in the day. Also the restaurant in the shopping area at pier has burrors(inbreed horses??? dunno but its fun) for rent. 20 bucks for 2 hours of beach riding. Nice sunset trip.

2)Picante catermaran. Expensive at 60 bucks, but includes food/booze, they motor to a private snorkle area, and sail back to bay of Z, and then spinnaker sailing if weather permits. 4 hours total. Great Captain and crew to match. English speaking, easy going, will answer questions about area, history, etc. Also offered as a sunset cruise.

3)Zihuatinejo Shopping, food, beer, farmers market, artisians market, Take a bus to Z(buses marked centro, 60 cents). Walk towards the water until you get to a large basketball court. Use that as a central meeting place and go shopping, for about 20 square blocks of various shops. Or walk along the seawall for a few km's, or take a water taxi to Playa Las Gatas for the day.

4)Booze bus runs once a week,(they hit an entertainment bar, salsa dance bar(Bandidos), and back to Ixtapa for some table dancing at the anything goes Senior Froggies and that is only 30 bucks. They fill it with tourists from ALL the resorts. Great way to make friends form other resorts. WARNING straight tequilla is served frequently.

5)Restaurants....I know most resorts are all inclusive but there are some fantastic eateries in the Ixtapa market area, and in Z. Prices vary but meals for 2 with wine ran 25-60 bucks. Its neat to meet the owners, ask them history, see the fresh catch of the day etc.

Avoid the beach vendors. They offer tours/trips at 20% plus discounts. Every now and again they take your deposit and do not show. Or they promise booze/lunch included that never materializes. Or transportation to the event is covered but nobody shows up(or like us a pickup comes, and me n the wife ride in the box...never again)Also the insurance carrier you have may not cover unregistered/sanctioned tours.

Enjoy....

Cheers!
