Moon Palace Punta Cana versus ASP

I have been given the option of changing my vacation to the Moon Palace in Punta Cana from the Aventura Spa Palace. Has anyone been to both? The reviews on the Moon Palace are not as positive as the ASP.

Thank you

Gary

MP just opened in Jan and a lot is not ready yet. We were told at ASP last month that the casino won't be open until summer (probably winter, knowing Palace)and golf doesn't even have a date yet. There is a long thread about it's progress if you haven't seen it yet and have just relied on the reviews. We've been to ASP 5 times and it is as beautiful and great as ever despite the families allowed on the S side as of 4/09. Is Palace making the change?

In my update meeting they told me not to go to Punta Cana yet, that its a good year from being ready.

I just returned from ASP and its very nice. There were no issues with the flu, just as you go through the airport, they are asking people if they feel okay and everything is fine at ASP, so that should not be a major concern. The family split, is early on, and not many families are there. The resort is so big, that no issue if some children are at the southside of the resort. I would recomend going to ASP in the short term, long term, I am sure Moon Palace will be nice, but it probably wont be complete until the fall. I would like to go to Moon palace myself, but not until maybe next year, once it has been completed and open for a few months.

Been to ASP a few times. Never been to Punta Cana. I am a Palace Member. There is no way I'd go to Punta Cana right now. It is unfinished. Read the reviews. ASP is wonderful (though they changed from all adults to 1/2 and 1/2 - a whole other issue for me). ASP, hands down. Save Punta Cana for about two years from now when it's actually complete.

As all others have mentioned dont go to punta cana just yet unless you are ok with it not being done.

I was booking our honeymoon late last year and was disappointed that I could not book the casino resort at that time. So, I booked ASP.

In the end it was a blessing in disguise. As we went thru our member presentation we found out that the casino was not there yet. I would have been EXTREMELY disappointed because there was no mention of any of this on the palace site (at the time I was looking at least, I dont know about now) and I would have gone there fully expecting everything to be there. That would have been a disaster.

I think we'll go there in 2 years, though, as it should for sure be mature by then.

Thank you to all the members who took time to advise me to wait on the Punca Cana experience. The Swine flu concern was the reason for the question. I hope all is clear by June 28. Thank you again.
