Catalonia Riviera Maya Snorkeling

Hello,

Can someone tell me please is there any reef for snorkelling near beach at Catalonia Riviera Maya Resort?

Holidays planned for beginning of April, what's is the weather like? Is it very windy/ rough sea?

Thanks in advance

Yes, absolutely, decent snorkelling from the beach at the Catalonia - not "great" but quite good. Take some bananas from the buffet out with you.

Got back from the Cat on Dec. 31st. I went out snorkeling quite a few times. Saw lobster, crab. barracuda, flamingo tongue snails and this guy. If you take your time you can find all kinds of interesting things. Going back on Feb 6th.

Jan954--very cool video. What type of camera do you have? I have only snorkeled a few times but would really like to take some cool pictures of the sea life.

We are going to the CAT in February for the first time but we have visited Playacar in February and April. The advantage to April is that the water is warmer, there is more daylight so pools are open longer (or at least at the resort we stayed at which was 6pm vs 8pm in April) The disadvantage is it is much more humid in April than February. It is still windy which helps but I wouldn't want to do day excursions unless it was early in the morning in April because we visited and hiked Coba in February and it was hot then.

We found the best spot for snorkelling was on the left side (facing out to sea from the beach), behind the rocks at the entrance to the bay.
