beach quality?

Is the ocean swimmable in Puerto Aventuras? We are looking at maybe going to Dreams Puerto Aventuras, but are beach people. Is there plenty of sand area for loungers and can you swim in the ocean?

The beach in Puerto Aventuras is mostly rocky - it is the rocky point of the bay with the coves and lagoons with the mooring facilities. You can still swim in the ocean but there are more better beaches for that in the area with the long sandy beaches at the Barcelo, Grand Palladium and Catalonia Royal Tulum.

There is excellent sand, swimming and snorkeling in front of the Omni hotel in PA...it's about a 10 minute walk from dreams. Dreams is on a pretty rocky point

Check out the “Top Questions about….” In the top right of this page & look at the FAQ about maps. There are Aerial Pix there that will give you a good idea about the area.

In short though, if you are looking for “miles of beach”, then Dreams PA is not for you. You would be better off at the Barcelos, Palladiums, or even the Catalonia Royal Tulum….

The water IS very swimmable though & pretty decent for snorkelling right there on-site. Also because it is a somewhat “Protected Cove” you will rarely if ever get “Red Flag” days…. We have been 7x to the Catalonia that is right next door to Dreams PA & heading back there for our 8th visit in “25 more sleeps!”

¡Feliz Navidad, año próspero y felicidad!

You may also want to check out ABR ( Akumal Beach Resort ) there you will have what you are looking for in a nice long sandy swimmable beach. Plus you have excellant snorkeling with the sea turtles etc. Nice beach bar ( Lol Hol ) at one end if you wanted to take a nice stroll stop for a refreshment etc. Another great feature is walking the road that leads back to Yal Ku Lagoon.

We just returned in November from Dreams P.A.

We were happy with the beach and hung out there from morning to late afternoon each day. We had no problem every morning finding lounge chairs. The beach is small but appropriately proportioned to the size of the resort. The water was crystal clear and calm during our stay. The ocean is definitiely swimmable, with some of the best snorkeling I've experienced right off a resort property. As you make your way to the right-hand side of the beach past the wedding gazebo, the sand becomes a little more rocky in this area. If you are interested in taking long walks on the beach, that's not possible because of the size. If you're just interested in lounging, swimming, and snorkeling, you'll love it.

We loved our stay at Dreams P.A., including the beach.
