Barcelo resorts?

I've read reviews and am confused about the Barcelor Resorst.

Are the Barcelo Maya Beach and Barcelo Maya Palace connected? Aside from the restaurants, do they share all the same amenities? Specifically, the pools and disco?

Any info would help thanks

The Barcelo is made up of 5 resorts. The first built were the Beach and Caribe, then came the Colonial and Tropical and the the Palace. They run in that order from the south to the north. There are restrictions when staying in the older sections. If at the Beach/Caribe, you do not have access to the buffets or ala cartes of the Colonial/Tropical or Palace. Same if you stay at the Colonial/Tropical you cannot go to the Palace. (you can for a fee from either). Staying at the Palace gives you full run of the resort.

The pools are different as the Palace pools are only for Palace guests. Beach/Caribe can use the Colonial/Tropical and vise versa.

Okay thanks! So Beach guests cannot go have a drink at a Palace bar? Do you know if there is 1 disco for the whole complex? Thanks again

Beach guests cannot go to the Palace for a drink. However, if you have paid for a dining upgrade to experience one of the a la carte restaurants at the Palace, you will be served at the central bar where those restaurants are located.

The Jaguar disco is the only disco on-site and is open for all guests to enjoy, regardless of resort.

Hope this helps!

As mentioned the Palace basically has free roam of the whole complex.(Rest. And Pools and bars) The Tropical and Colonial have basically free roam of those 2 plus the Beach and Caribe.(All areas) The Beach and Caribe have free roam of their 2 plus the Buffets, Pools and bars of the Tropical and Colonial.

Just came back from the barcelo maya beach and we loved it!! definately recommend, it by far had the nicest beach of the whole complex. we noticed up by the palace the beach is more rocky on the shore and in the water.

The food is great, we paid an exra 15 bucks each for japense restaurant in the colonial, which was great, lots of food very worth it. I enjoyed the buffets as well and the snack bar was great on the beach, fantastic view.

Just posted a detailed review but its still pending,.

but it you want best value and a great resort just choose barcelo maya beach and you can save money and use it for other things like souvenirs and excursions!

Also just wanted to add that the Jaguars disco was great, big night club, shared with all the guests in the resort so it was always a happening spot! Lots of fun there, and just a short walk from our beach section of the complex.
