Cenotes: Azul, Ponderosa, Garden of Eden - same?

Hello - I went on a tour once and we went to the Garden of Eden Cenote. I saw that it is very close to the Barcelo. We are staying at the Barcelo soon and I would like to take my kids to the same cenote. While researching where it is exactly, I keep finding the Garden of Eden, Ponderosa, and Azule Cenotes in the same area. Are they all the same? Just trying to figure out if I can walk to the Garden of Eden or if we need to take a cab....

Thanks!

They are separate cenotes--and separate businesses--but all next to each other off the highway. There is also Cristalino in the same grouping. I would guess it has something to do with the geology of that area.

These cenotes and quite a few more are part of one big system , named Ponderosa , that are joined underground but seperate businesses above ground . Here's a link to perhaps the best information resource on the subject by Steve Gerrard , a cave explorer , with very trustworthy and accurate directions and distances . cenotesoftherivieramaya.com/5-6-sisponderosa… That link came from this site . cenotesoftherivieramaya.com/5-5-caveguide.htm Including the walk from your room to the highway the distance back to Jardin de Eden could be 5 km or so depending on the distance from Barcelo . Azul and Cristalino are more often suggested because they are very close to the highway . All are very cool in slightly different ways and very inexpensive to enter . There is a small cave system to walk through that ends at a small hidden cenote just down a path at Eden that was as memorable as the main cenote for us . Try the cenote tab , first one in the Akumal forum`s top questions section for more . Please be happy always
