upgrading at the Barcelo

Has anyone been lately to the Barcelo where they have upgraded you to the Palace...we are a small group going, meeting at the Barcelo Tropical and am concerned that if they are really busy that week that they could move some of us....has anyone had this happen and how can you prevent this-read somewhere that they have split people before.

There is no way to avoid being "bumped" within your catagory or higher. It can happen, especially during season. You could always refuse and offer this very nice upgrade to the next guest checking-in!

Remember that any Palace guest has complete use of the entire Barcelo complex, so if an upgrade should happen, you are free to go spend all your time next door at the Tropical if you had to.

Ive seen it where they split groups out into different buildings and upgraded to poolview front row but never heard of part of a group getting upgraded to the palace. Ive heard of couples getting bumped up to the palace but never part of a group. I think they would upgrade couples not associated with a group to make room for a group.

I have actually read on review that said they went as a group and they moved one of the couples to the palace...don't want that to happen with our group
