Plan on cabing to the marina section of Puerto Aventuras from the Barcelo for a meal away from the resort this evening. Any suggestions?

I would go for a walk around the marina itself which is lovely and check out the menus and views and just see which one grabs your fancy! There are tons to choose from!

We did make the trip. Took the collective from the resort, walked around the marina and shopped, then had beers and food at Gringo's. Met a nice couple who had just arrived from the UK. We also met a local pooch who works her way around the tables looking for hand outs. She lives with her owner above the bar. We then walked back to the highway and waited for the van back. Had a long conversation with a intoxicated local who had a beer in each pocket and one in his hand at the bus stop. We had no idea what he was saying but he talked non stop for 15 minutes while we waited. We just smiled.

We took a cab. It's only 5 minutes or so north and a cab lets you off closer than the colectevo. ( pronounced co-lec- TEE-vo).

Cab vs colectevo vs walking - looking at going from Barcelo into town.

Any info on the colectevo? What? where? cost?

Can you walk?

Is there a "local bus"?

Hi there,

We are headed to the Barcelo on Monday....it's too far to walk to town. There are Collectivos that stop at the driveway entrance to the hotel, and I think they are about $2...there are large buses coming back to the resort that you can take from the bus terminal in PDC, but a cab wouldn't be very expensive regardless. We stayed at the Catalonia previous, which is close to the Barcelo, so I am speaking from that location, but the resorts are fairly close in proximity. We will probably take the Collectivo in, and a cab back. The cab ride is about 15 minutes, if I recall correctly.
