Just wondering about the age old question of tipping: how much do you tip and is it better in pesos or US? We tipped in US dollars in Los Cabos. How much is too much?

We always tip in pesos since it's the currency of Mexico
50 pesos a day to the housekeeper cleaning our room ( and leaving the room very easy to clean)
20 pesos to the girls making lattes and Capps every morning at the coffee shop
30-50 pesos for the buffet servers at breakfast and lunch ( more if they do more than take our plates away)
20 pesos per round ( 2 drinks) at the pool or beach, often we get a steller server and tip them 100 pesos mid week and at the end of our stay
100-200 pesos at full service restaurants
Your from Canada.....buy pesos and tip in Pesos ....good return for you and easy for them as it is their currency...I was not impressed in Cabo as they "expected" US dollars (had a cab driver get annoyed with us for paying in Pesos...ridiculous.....he let us out 5 blocks after our stop because he was not happy)...in PV they didn't...just my experience...enjoyed PV alot more than I did Cabo. We tip 70 pesos per day for the lady cleaning our room....if it was exceptional during the 2 weeks I leave a 500 peso note with a thankyou card as well.....20 to 50 pesos for breaky depending on service....dinner(buffet - pretty much the same)...al la cartes 100 pesos depending on service...bar staff...20 pesos per round (2 drinks)generally. Tipping is a personal thing...I don't think there is a right or wrong amount...it's what you can afford...but do tip..they work hard for it
Fellow Canadian please dont ever buy US money with your Cdn money in order to tip or pay for anything in Mexico. You lose big time on the exchange.
Pesos is the currency of Mexico so please use it. Get pesos at home and you can get more from an ABM when you get to Mexico if you need them.
At resort? Lots say Gratuitees included!! Link to other thread..
I like to tip the behind the scene workers.
I have seen the Canadian flyers that say Tips are included...,,,,, but most of us regulars on TA know they receive just a few pesos per vacationers stay.
If I am having a $100.00 meal in Canada I tip 15-30 % depending on service so let's say 350 pesos (20ish % tip)
In Mexico at a AI I think it works out to about 500 pesos a day times 7 or 10 days
Which usually works out to be around 20 % of our travel costs ( flight and AI) which has always had Tony and I going WTH(heck)???
