Restaurants on beach in Nuevo Vallarta?

Just wondering if there are restaurants on the beach or in the Nuevo area. We are staying at the Grand Mayan but, dont want to pay a arm and leg for dinner every time.

Thanks

There are not many restaurants in Nuevo other than those in the resorts. There are some wonderful beach side restaurants in Bucerias though. A favourite of ours is Mezzagiornio, and Italian restaurant right on the beach. Others are Karen's, Meson Bay, and many others if you search in the Bucerais forum.

not sure if this might be too casual, but it's great during the day and i think they still serve dinner as well. "etc beach club" is right on the water, has decent food, and is a great place to go to get away from the resort stuffiness and crowds. our house is right next door so we go a lot and love it :-)

It's not beach side - but have you tried Nopal Beach close to the GM? Sidewalk style cafe - not bad prices & food. We also noticed, but did not try, Mariscos - 8 Tostados, has opened in the NV area near the GM. Others told us in the past that this was a good restaurant in a different area in PV - don't know tho'. Guido's gets a lot of business from GM guests.

Farther away - nearer to Paradise Village, we have tried Etc and there are also two other beach side restaurants along that beach (walk towards Paradise Village from Etc.) One is called Bernardo's - haven't tried it in over a year, but it was good food - a little pricey. The other is by the Bahia del Sol - I can't remember the name - simple cafe style food. Seemed good too - but again only tried it once over a year ago. Have you tried "La Portena" steak house at the gates to El Tigre? It is a steak house that is quite good. Noticed that there is a new sports bar and a sushi bar just opened in the same area. Also there is a Fajita Republic in NV - you would need to take a taxi from GM.

A few more eating places & a small deli in the Paradise Village Mall. They also have a MacDonalds, a Dominos Pizza and a new "Starbucks" cafe there. Another place we didn't try but it has hamburgers, sandwiches, etc. is the Yacht club restaurant at Paradise Village. (Looks like it is part of the PV complex, but it is separate and takes cash.)

A lot of people like "La Laguna" for seafood - it received a bad review on the TA site - but spoke to people who have been quite pleased with their meals there - again we haven't been there in over a year, but it was good - not great - but decent.

Bucerias has lots of great eating, but you must taxi to get there. Check the forum there for restaurant advice.

Mile0 Have you heard of a new opening in Nuevo that is between La Laguna and the Mayan under a Palapa, owned by the same folks as Claudios-Meson Bay? Do you know the name of it? Also have you heard of Napolitos in Nuevo? And where is Mariscos 8 Tostados? Also where is Etc beach club in relation to the Playa Royale?

Mile0 "Also have you heard of Napolitos in Nuevo?" - sorry, haven't heard of it - R U sure it's not Nopal Beach?

"where is Mariscos 8 Tostados" - It's poorly located - not far from Guidos - Go behind it - take a look across the empty square and then to the right. It looks like a commercial development that isn't occupied and the restaurant is on the ground floor. You have to walk there to see it - we are curious so we walk a little farther to look at what's going on. I wonder if they will do much business in there - who knows they're there?

"Also where is Etc beach club in relation to the Playa Royale?" We have found it by walking down the beach towards the Riu hotels - not as far as they are, but about a 1/2 hour walk along the beach from Playa Royale and they have a sign on the beach. Sorry can't remember the name of the nearest complex. Maybe, princiii can help - sounds like they stay close by.

Milo; Thanks. do you remember the name of the Italian restaurant in the Paradis Village area that has both outdoor seating as well as indoor seating? (Not located within the Mall adjacent to PV, but located adjacent to it, overlooking the marina.

Thanks everyone! This is helpful knowing there are some other options around. We are pretty laid back and casual. I don't mind eating my junk food once in a while. Gourmet is just not my thing. I prefer a good burger or salad.

ETC. sounds like a good place. Seems pretty far from the Mayan though.??
