Grand Mayan - Building Info

We are exchanging our timeshare in Cancun and using in Nuevo Vallarta Grand Mayan Oct 3 - 10. Should we expect to get an ocean view room since we are Mayan Palace Owners ?

How are the buildings numbered ?

Which building is the one closest to the ocean ?

If we don't get an ocean view room, then which bldg is the best for non ocean view ?

Just want to be prepared if we have the option of selecting a room.

Any other info about the property is greatly appreciated.

Nuevo is laid out differently than Cancun. There are actually 3 buildings, but they are all attached into one big unit.

I doubt you would receive ocean view. As a Grand Mayan owner the last 3 years, I have not received it.

There is some construction going on and some golf course/inland views would be better than others, but there really aren't building #'s to request, (from what I read-like Cancun).

Whether or not you get an ocean view room will depend on a few things -

How far in advance did you book it? If you booked it 6 months in advance there's a decent chance you'll get an ocean view since you are a MP owner. Grand Mayan owners will have priority, as well as the Grand Bliss and Grand Luxxe owners who will be staying there until the adjacent Grand Bliss and Grand Luxxe II buildings open in Nov. The one thing in your favor is that October isn't the high season down there, so hopefully the resort won't be completely full and you'll get a decent room.

On the down side, because it is the low season, I've heard that Grupo Mayan has closed both the Mayan Palace in PV and the adjacent MP in NV for renovation for the months of Sept./Oct. and are putting the guests into the NV Grand Mayan. That may complicate things a little...

But even if you do face the golf course or the parking garage, you'll still enjoy the resort a lot. All three of the attached buildings are adjacent to the pool complex and the ocean is just past that. It's not laid out like Riviera Maya where there are a lot of small buildings spread out all over the property.

Good luck, Curt
