love the resort and am returning in may BUT this is not a true AI. this is a timeshare resort not an AI hotel style resort. nothing is stocked in your room.....no bottled water, no beer, no alcohol!!!! there is an honor bar in your room but pricing is very high (i recommend the on-site market for bottled water mixers, snacks and such or the mega for shopping if you cook on vacation. i don't LOL!) all drinks and meals at the restaurants and bars on site are included with the exception of steak and shellfish! for those meals you get 20% off the menu price and pay out of pocket. we don't do AI but i believe vdpf's AI also covers theme night dinners which are just ok. unless you are a big drinker the AI is not worth it at these types of resorts imo. the 2 restaurants on site are ok and the steakhouse (La Casona) next door at villa la estancia is excellent! gets very boring over a week's period. there are a lot of very good restaurants just north in bucerias and south in pv. feel free to ask any questions about vdpf.

Thank you, that helps clear up my questions. So can you also eat at the resort next door (the steak house)?

definitely not free under AI because it's steak! best would be 20% off menu price but anyone can get that by doing the sales presentation at vdpf. when you do the timeshare presentation you get a 20% off VIP card for all drinks and restaurants on site (and a couple places off site). you also get excellent rates on excursions. at other resorts we don't do the presentations but the 20% off all meals and drinks is a good deal as we enjoy the breakfast buffet (with mimosas in the morning) and lunch onsite. the presentations aren't too bad and we really like the villa group resorts we have visited through exchanges. they just haven't been able to make the deal WE want so we keep saying no and trading in!

while it wouldn't provide the size unit that vdpf does you might want to look at the rui resorts in the area for a full service true AI type resort. there are 3 just down the beach from vdpf. the top of the line would be the rui palace. we don't do AI much and have never stayed at a rui but they seem to be well liked by those that do. hope this helps!
