Villa del Palmar-Flamingos

I'm thinking of traveling to Nuevo Vallarta next year and trying to gather information before that time. Has anyone stayed at Villa del Palmar-Flamingos. Can anyone give me any insight of rooms and entertainment/night life? Do I need to rent a car? Is this a all-inclusive resort or optional.

Thanks Pokeno

If you're not totally familiar with driving in the PV area and driving in Mexico in general, there is no need to rent a car. Almost all of the resorts have a fleet of taxis that are waiting outside to transport guests at a pretty low price. Also, once you get the "lay of the land", you may want to take buses, too.

We return here every year even though we could go to other locales and resorts. The staff are great! The rooms very nice, the grounds, pools, and service superb. Beach is awesome as far as PV beaches go. With that said, we don't do the AI. There are a number of great restaurants a short cab ride away that we frequent.

we own at vdpf and love it! very quiet at night which we love but they have dinner oriented theme nights throughout the week for early entertainment. pool and grounds are beautiful and the workers are top notch. what size room are you renting? all are very nice but you will get a washer/dryer with a full 1 br or larger. do not recommend the meal and beverage plan (it is not a true AI) as only 2 full service dinner restaurants and the theme nights so it gets boring and the restaurants can be hit or miss. too many excellent dining choices to be limited.

Thanks Maryjo34 we will be renting a 1 bedroom. Is there a charge for the theme night? Is there a theme night every night?

theme nights run an avg of $50 (lobster night was higher) per person which includes meal, drinks and entertainment. sunday or monday was mexican night, wednesday was pirates night on the beach, other nights varied depending on time of year but was more of a dinner theme at bella vista vs large scale "theme night" on the beach or in the center of the resort. they work very hard at the entertainment but must be honest and say the food is really hit or miss. there is a small town just north called bucerias which we love for dinner. depending on the time of year you are visiting there are also some venues for bands/music. most will head to puerto vallarta for nightclub action but that will get expensive with taxis if you go often ($25 ea way avg).
