Taheima Wellness Resort & Spa

Hi anyone have any updated info on this resort - have they permanently closed their doors? Any info would be extremely helpful. Thanks.

My girlfriends parents own a unit there. It will not be reopeneing as a resort. Owner /shareholder meeting a few weeks ago decided to use the area as condo's now.

Only some amenities will be availble (no restaurants etc)

The complex had ther water and electricity cut off back before Christmas due to financial problems.

Oakley thank you so much for this info. Hopefully Living Social will refund the money. Again thanks.

Not sure. I know any owners are being very well looked after at surrounding Resorts. We were to stay at Taheima but due to their "problems" we are now staying right on the beach in Paradise Village!

No complaints here. But feel for anyone who had plans and was not notified.

Luckily we got our money back from Living Social. But, what of those people that booked directly with Taheima...

To think we had reservations for first of April, good thing we had not booked flight!

As of Christmas 2013, Taheima is open and all sold and completed units belong to individual owners. An HOA was formed during the past year and the owners have taken over pool and ground maintenance. Many owners are now offering rentals -- long or short term. The facility is still very nice. The large palapas restaurant is open frequently, but does not maintain strict hours, but you can often go by and have them fix breakfast for you or let them know if you want dinner or if you have a group coming and they will be prepare for you. The gym facilities and yoga rooms are closed. If you are renting directly from an owner you are probably fine. There were a lot of people who were hurt financially, some of whom showed up after buying "soon to be built" units, that never materialized. All the units had to be prepaid. Many staff members had difficulty getting paid, but now things seem to have settled down. It is actually a very nice facility, quiet and peaceful, within an easy drive of the beaches and there is a Beach Club where you can buy a week's pass. Some of the units face the El Tigre golf resort and others are near the pool. We enjoyed 10 days there and were happy with our stay. Just be prepared for a few quirks. All of the staff were very nice and it is well guarded.
