How does Hard Rock compare to when it was Vallarta Palace, especially Mar Intimo compared to Ciao

Good question, hope someone out there can answer for you. I'll be reading the answers because my wife, myself and some friends will be going there the last week of May.

The picture of the restaurant they now call Ciao looks like what used to be Mar Intimo. I wonder if service and menu is as good .

We were also there when it was the Vallarta Palace. I'm just as interested in knowing as you are. My guess is that it will be as good as it has been due to the reviews that they have received since their change over.

They added a swim-up bar, large kids slide, waterfalls over bridges, a Mexican Restaurant where the Lunch area was, updated the colors of the rooms and Lobby plus I understand the Casino across the drive-way is either open or about to open.

They made many changes...no doubt...I was there beginning of year and sadly I was disappointed form when it was Palace resort to Hard Rock. Staff confusion, disorganized, music way way too loud, to point of numerous complaints, food quality I felt diminished slightly along with availabilitiy of restaurants..ie: paperwork incorrect on when and who open, only one restaurant open many nights, so lack of variety..

Structural changes nice, pool bar, lobby modern, music memorabilia throughout, almost museum like but otherwise a downhill slide sadly....

I did speak with management and it made some difference while I was there, than I spoke to them after return and they seemed receptive and would deal with issues, but as I read reviews I am not so sure.

As a member of both Palace and Legendary, I plan to make my next visit with open mind...hope all is fixed...

As far as the casino goes been hearing about its opening for so long, will just wait till it does to say!

I hear the non stop music is still an issue on the Hard Rock Vallarta review side of TA. Roberto the customer service manager recommends hanging out by the beach if you need some rest. That to me is not a fix. My cousin is there this week. I will see what she says when she returns and let you know.

I agree hanging out by the beach is not a fix...I did not have a problem with music by pool. My music issues were in restaurants all times of day...in nightclub/lounge..and even in gym.. I love music but not when it is blaring in your face and you cannot even hear yourself think...etc..many others complained as well..sadly if they do not make it tolerable many will not return..hoping you cousin has good news Virginia..

Just returned. Ciao had some of our favorite waiters, Antonio said he had been there 8 years, but the menu had changed again (has every year). There was still great choices but no steak, asked and recieved,' It's a pleasure'. There was no lobster to add with credits, there had been a problem with the supplier and looking for a new supplier. The Chefs Dinner (credits) was fun and the food great. Different areas of the pools had different music with the loudest right in front of the activity hut. Enjoy!

Donner: My cousin just returned on Saturday. Did you meet a group of ladies + one man from Chicago having a great time? They said they were at the Sun Bar every night after dinner.

Bezerk, She says the hotel was about 50% full. They had to move away from the activity area which had very loud music and found a comfortable place on the other side of the pool. They would go to the beach if they needed to rest. The restaurant music must have been fine since she says she didn't notice it. The rooms over the bar are loud all night, so they moved the second day and the new room was great. They loved the Romantic Dinner even though they were mostly ladies and came back very happy.

Hmm, they did have the lobsters when I was there beginning of year. We too loved the Romantic dinner and felt it was our best meal...

We were able to find quiet areas around pool or music but not blaring, that was not an issue. I sort of expect music to be loud at Activity area. Our room was not too far from lounge and we had no issues with music in our room.. The music issues came in lobby, restaurants, gym, and the lounge where you could not even talk, not enjoy a drink and all before 10 pm, if they had blared it after 10 pm that would be more tolerable, even though we stay late. Loud music at Breakfast even..Folks would walk in lounge and Immediately leave as just way to loud, too loud to enjoy a drink...

From post above sounds like maybe they lowered the volume of Sun Bar and restaurants, sure hope so. Also we were there in Jan and they had A/C so high in restaurants and Sun Bar you thought you were in a meat locker, everyone had on sweaters, even jackets...

I am so glad I did not plan to take my Mom to Hard Rock yet for Mother's Day, I booked at Grand Velas instead...at least till this Jan when we return hubby and I and see if issues are truly resolved, I sure hope so it was a great resort as a Palace Resort.
