Playa Royale or Ocean vista residence

We are a retired couple looking at 2 weeks in Nuevo Vallarta and will be joined for one week by our adult daughter and her 2 children aged 7 and 3.

We are looking at condos in each of these resorts and finding it difficult to decide. The Playa Royale rate is $300.00 a week more than the Ocean Vista and wondering if anyone has any comments as to whether it might be worth the extra cost.

Thanks for any help

It is a tough call whether a $300/week difference is worth it. I believe Playa Royale and Ocean Vista are similar structures, built by the same company. The condo floor plans may be similar. As the crow flies, they are not far from one another with a waterway between the neighborhoods. About a 5 minutes by car. There is a water taxi that runs across the waterway. Restaurants are within walking distance from both PR and OV. In the Paradise Mall, nearer Playa Royale (about 4 blocks) there is a market, McDonald's, Dominoe's Pizza, Subway along with at least five non-chain, non-fast food restaurants. There are a several other restaurants within walking distance or short taxi ride from Playa Royale that are very good. Near Ocean Vista there are a number of (non fast food) restaurants that are very good and small market ( less stock than the Sunset Market in Paradise Mall) Will you have a car? Both properties have a nice beach. Staying two weeks, you will probably want to go to WalMart or Mega for groceries and supplies. Depending upon when you visit, there is a turtle release the children and adults both can participate in, half a block up the beach from Playa Royale. I apologize for not being more help, but did want to respond to your post. Whichever condo you choose, you will enjoy!!!

I really appreciate the reply and I'm still waffling a bit.

If this were just for my husband and me, I would definitely go with Ocean Vista but I'm thinking that Playa Royale may be a bit more child friendly if our daughter and grandchildren do join us/

No we will not have a car. Is public transport similar from either of these properties?

Thankyou again

The taxi stand and bus stop are a couple of blocks from Ocean Vista....a bit farther, 4-5 blocks from Playa Royale. There is a free bus that travels the immediate area, however, I am not familiar with the schedule. The water taxi is very close to Ocean Vista (By Eddie's Nopal Beach Restaurant)... behind and just to the south of Paradise Mall on the other side of the water. You would want to check the schedule. Of course, the condo staff at both will order a taxi for you.

Actually, the taxi stand and public bus stop are right across the street from Playa Royale, directly in front of the Hard Rock, the Grand Odyssey Casino and the San Javier Hospital.

I would definitely recommend Playa Royale over Ocean Vista. We have been long term renters there for 8 years. Have you checked rates for Playa Royale on VRBO.com? There are numerous rentals by owner and you can always offer a lower price. I would try for a unit in Tower 1 at the 4th floor or above level. Tower I is direct ocean front. 4th floor is above the palm tree level so unobstructed views. What weeks are you trying for?

We made a decision to try to get something at Playa Royale and we are currently in contact with a couple of owners.

Thanks for your interest.

You wont be sorry. The condo management functions like a hotel. You check in as though you are a hotel guest. There is a beach restaurant on the property and wait staff to serve you by the pool or on the beach. There is a kids pool for the very young in addition to the regular pool. If you join the club which is $15 per person for up to a month, you have access to another pool with slides for the kids as well as the work out club which is very beautiful and also has tennis courts. The facility is beautifully maintained and immaculate. The condo's are large.
