SUNWING - Treat customers badly by changing your flight time

We recently returned from a Sunwing flight from Edmonton to Cancun. Our return flight was terrible. We did not find out our non-stop flight was NO LONGER non-stop until we arrived at the airport. Please be aware of their "Terms & Conditions" before you book their flight.

"Carrier undertakes to use its best efforts to carry the passenger and baggage with reasonable dispatch. Times shown on the ticket or elsewhere are not guaranteed and form no part of this contract. Carrier may without notice substitute alternate carriers or aircraft, and may alter or omit stopping places shown on the ticket in case of necessity. Schedules are subject to change without notice."

This means they can change your non-stop flights to several stops and change departures time by HOURS...leaving you sitting in an airport.....and you have no right to complain...they will tell you to read the fine print on your ticket - they are allowed to do this!!

BEWARE - Don't be fooled into thinking the flight times you booked are what you are going to get; and don't think your direct flight will not have "surprise stops".

We learned the hard way!

As I said when you posted this in the air travel forum, these terms and conditions are standard airline boilerplate and you will find identical or similar wording in every airline's T&Cs.

This could have happened with any airline, not just Sunwing. Sunwing is a charter and so like any other charter can be more prone to schedule changes, but it happens every day on "scheduled" airlines as well, especially when you book far in advance.

Time changes can happen on any flight by any airline.

Perhaps another moral of this story is to check the day before (or in the morning for an evening flight) that times haven't been changed?

Contrary to what you might think, they really don't do this just to mess up your day.
