Family of 13 looking for that special place .

We are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary in June 2013.

There are 8 adults and 5 grandchildren 12-2 years.

An all-inclusive would be ideal, but we are open to any suggestions.

Area activities are important.

Thank you for your suggestions.

I've never heard of any all-inclusives here in Canada; that's something you find in the Caribbean or Mexico.

If you choose one of the resort towns in the Canadian Rocky Mountain national parks (Banff or Jasper), you have a choice of many outdoor recreational activities - hiking, canoeing, cycling, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, etc. I would suggest coming later in June rather than earlier though - early June is still very much early spring, especially at the higher elevations. The famous glacial lakes such as Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Bow Lake usually still have ice on them until sometime in the first week of the month. The weather is not as warm in June as in July or August, however, June is also before mosquito season. June is also "shoulder season", so accommodation rates tend to be slightly lower.

Something like a guest (dude) ranch might appeal to the family. They'd have accomodation for your large group, meals and activities for different age ranges. Try googling dude ranches or guest ranches in Alberta. There are several listed.

We stayed at Castle Mountain in Banff for New Years and loved the property. The only downside was that it wasn't in Banff, but it has lots of amenities. BBQs, firepits, grocery and liquor stores.

You might be able to book 2 to 4 cabins next to each other. We had a 2 bedroom cabin with kitchenette. The view is amazing. The reviews said that the trains tend to be loud, but we never heard them. Mind you it was in December/January.

Might be a nice spot for an anniversary: http://castlemountain.com/

booking a bunch of cabins together would be good. you could also check with douglas fir resort in banff and see if you could get a few of the chalets next to each other. they have a good waterpark for the kids, public transportation into town and kitchenettes so you wouldn't have to go out for every meal. they likely won't gaurantee specific rooms but surely if you explain the circumstances, they'd put you all close together. here are my recommendations for chalets with the best views.

Room 115 & 118 = 2 bedroom A-Frame

>Room 113, 114, 116, & 117 = 3 bedroom A-Frame

>Room 181 One Bedroom Condo

>Room 184 One Bedroom Loft Condo

if you consider a "dude ranch" search for around hinton.

kananaskis provincial park is also gorgeious for biking or hiking. there is a hotel there or you could rent a few motor homes and enjoy one of their beautiful campgrounds, enjoy campfires, etc.

In my opinion Banff and Jasper are absolutely breathtaking and worth a trip. Jasper is less developed but the scenery is equally beautiful.. I love the Banff Springs hotel or you could rent a condo/ chalet. B.C is really incredible. A visit to the Okanagan and Vancouver is truly spectacular. Just did it over the summer and it was so beautiful.
