National Park Entry Fees

Hi, We are going to be in the Rockies in next July for 8 days.First to be in the Rimrock Resort Hotel in Banff for 4 nights and then to drive to Jasper and to stay at the Chateau Jasper for more 3 nights. We are plannig to drive around and have short journeis in the rockies. Are those hotel are inside the National Parks (Banss & Jasper)? and if yes what is recommended to purches a daily pass for the number of days e.g 8 days or to get an annual pass when we first arrive at the Banff Nationa Park gate? What will be the cheapest?

Thanks AssafNattiv

Rimrock Resort Hotel is in the town of Banff which is Banff National Park (yes, it is a little confusing that the town and park have the same name); Chateau Jasper is in the town of Jasper in Jasper National Park.

An annual pass costs the same as a pass for 7 days. So if you will be in the parks for 7 days or more, it is best to just buy an annual pass. Also, the annual pass allows free admission to national historic sites operated by Parks Canada, such as Cave & Basin National Historic Site and Banff Park Museum in Banff, and Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site (in Alberta, about an hour east of the Icefields Parkway).

The year-long national parks pass (the Discovery Pass) costs just under 7 days worth of day passes, so for you it would be the most economical option. Both the towns of Banff and Jasper are inside the national parks of the same name.

(Edit - simultaneous post, sorry)
