If you do a google search, you'll find it's the travel insurance choice for the Canadian Legion, which says quite a lot I think:

<<Medipac Travel Insurance

Legion Travel Insurance Member Benefit

The Royal Canadian Legion understands the Importance of Protection when travelling abroad and within Canada.

That's why the Legion has partnered with Canada's most respected travel insurance company to service the new Legion Travel Insurance Member Benefit - Medipac Travel Insurance.*>>

Hope that helps.

Whatever you do, do not use TravelGuard. They have more loopholes than a knit sweater.. We booked a tour to Tibet, which was closed shortly before our departure date do to civil unrest, people burnings, etc. These are not covered by trip cancellation, since there wasn't anyone running around with the word terrorist on their shirt and civil unrest doesn't count. HMMMM: death, mayhem, closures and cancellations not covered. Got it! We bought worthless insurance

Check out AAA or your local bank for insurance rates. Everything will depends on your age & health issues.. Are your flying to your destination or driving?

Note that there are also different types of "travel insurance". It sounds like "medipac" is medical coverage, whereas spriteduc is talking about trip cancellation insurance, a different type of coverage. No matter what type of insurance you buy, it pays to read the fine print, to find out exactly which "perils" are covered.
