In Banff the Bow Valley Grill has nice views if your close to the windows. The Italian rest wouldn't have a view except of the street and Rundlehaus won't have much.

In LL the Fairview room is nice and the Victoria Dining room if open is nice. The Poppy is large and along the window.

There really aren't any 'bad' restaruants though the ambiance is different in each. Sort of depends if your looking to eat or have a special celebration.

Lots of great restaurants in the town of Banff! But I just wanted to put in a pitch for the Waldhaus Restaurant (not the Waldhaus Pub, which is in the same building). It's run by the Banff Springs Hotel and is located on their property, but outside of the main hotel complex. It's on a boardwalk & trail that connects the main hotel building with Bow Falls. They serve fondue and German cuisine, and there are 3-4 tables tucked away from the main dining room with a nice view of the Bow River and the river valley below.

I'll add another vote for the Waldhaus. Fabulous food, and as Country_Wife says, there are some great tables in the front room where you are looking out over the rivers.

My favourite restaurant at the Springs is Castello, as far as food goes, but everyone has their own unique tastes. As mentioned, the view isn't much, but we just loved the food. But you do need to book your reservations early. It's very small and fills up fast. When we were last there, it wasn't even high season, we reserved 3 months out, and still couldn't get our preferred seating time.

Lots of great restaurants in town, but you certainly won't go hungry at the hotel either.

Not as much choice at Chateau Lake Louise, but what they have is very good and so are the views. The Station is also a great choice in Lake Louise. As you can imagine from the name, it's at the old railway station.

And for a really special, although expensive, meal - the restaurant at the Post Hotel in Lake Louise is hard to beat. No views to speak of, just wonderful food, life-changing wines and fabulous service.

The Wallister Stube at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is a fabulous Swiss fondue restaurant and definitely a must to check this out (even if it’s just for the ambiance and view of the Lake itself).

Other wonderful dining options in the Lake Louise area include; the Mount Fairview Dining room, located at the Deerlodge Hotel. A short walking distance from the Chateau. Great ambiance and lots of game on the menu. The Lake Louise Heritage Trainstation Restaurant. Canadian Railway history, combined with Canadian Cousine. You do need to drive approx. 5 minutes to get here. And the Baker Creek Bistro, located on the scenic Bow Valley Parkway (approx. 20 minute drive from the Fairmont Chateau). This log cabin combined with wood burning fireplaces and authentic Canadian Cousine is such a nice getaway..

Upstairs at the Saltlik in Banff. One of the best steaks I have had.

Waldhaus at the Fairmont Banff is nice but they just renovated and jacked up their prices. $10 for a pint of Stella is a lot for a casual pub. Although worth it if you can sit outside and take in the views during the summer.

The Waldhaus Pub's patio is very nice, but I was discussing the Waldhaus Restaurant, which has always been pricy:

fairmont.com/banff-springs/…

It is quite confusing with them having the same name and being located in the same building (the original clubhouse for the Banff Springs Golf Club). Last year I fought quite a battle to have TA list them separately--and then they removed the Waldhaus Restaurant listing a month or so later.
