Looking for Hotel in Calgary near Greyhound bus station

I believe the Sandman is a 15 min walk away, but are there any other hotels? It's just for 1 night to recoup after flight from UK and before we hop onto bus early next morning. The Sandman reviews are not that complimentary.

You may want to try The Marriott, The Fairmont Palliser or the Hyatt. They are all on 9th ave (same road as the bus station). Depending on how much luggage you have you will probably want a cab - it shouldn't cost more than $5 from any of these. You may also want to ask them if they offer a complimentry shuttle service - many hotels do.

You might want to look into the Holiday Inn Express downtown location, which should be even closer than the Sandman:

You also could catch the Banff Airporter shuttle bus from Calgary Airport to Banff. The Banff Airporter will not go to downtown Calgary, but will bypass it and take you straight to Banff. Once you reach Banff, the shuttle bus will drop you at the door of your hotel (instead of at the bus station, as the Greyhound bus would do). If you do not go to downtown Calgary, but head straight out of town from the airport, it takes about 2 hours to get from the airport to Banff.

It would be feasible to reach Banff by dinner time if your plane lands around mid afternoon, as many flights from Europe do. It takes about an hour to clear Canadian immigration and customs at the airport. That, plus the 2-hour drive to Banff, adds up to about 3 hours.

Although the downtown properties that belong to the Holiday Inn, Sandman and Ramada chains are towards the west end of the downtown core, relatively close to the Greyhound station, they still are not within comfortable walking distance of the Greyhound station if you're carrying heavy luggage.

To get to downtown Calgary from the airport, your options are a cab or the Greyhound shuttle bus that connects the airport and the Greyhound station (but then you'd still have a short cab ride or a somewhat uncomfortable walk from the Greyhound station to your hotel).
