I am coming to Calgary at the beginning of December with my young adult daughter. I'll be checking in for surgery at the Foothills Hospital and will be staying there for a day or two, but will need to remain in Calgary for another couple of days following discharge.
I've read quite a few reviews on hotels in Calgary and have several times thought "This is the one" only to go on and read a bunch of negative comments -so I get a confusing impression. I'm not very familiar with Calgary at all. I would really like a clean, safe place to stay. My daughter will not want to hang out at the hospital with me the whole time - wants to get her Christmas shopping done.
So, are the hotels in "Motel Village" okay or not?
We are considering the Best Western Village Park Inn or Days Inn there. For shopping location, we have looked at 5 Calgary Downtown Suites, and for a really nicely appointed hotel, the consideration is the Delta in Bow Valley. We're trying to take into consideration travel times, taxi costs, etc., as well. My daughter will be able to use public transit, but I will not be able to because of the surgery. All of the hotels I've mentioned will fit into our budget range.
I'm waffling because obviously proximity to the hospital is important, but it would be nice if it were a decent stay as well.
I would appreciate any wisdom or insight you might have.
