Parking in downtown Calgary.

Will have a morning in Calgary before an afternoon flight out at the end of my trip. Hope to get to downtown area around 9am ...plan is to visit the Devonian Gardens and Glenbow Museum before leaving for the airport to catch a 3pm flight home. Will parking/traffic be a problem in downtown Calgary? Thanks.

Parking is plentiful but not cheap (well I think so anyway but compared to Houston it may be a bargain) There is good underground parking at Telus Convention Centre which is adjacent to the Glenbow and at Eaton Centre (as was, it may have another name now) - which is where the Devionian Gardens are.

From D/T to the airport via Memorial and Barlow or Memorial/Deerfoot/Airport Trail in the early afternoon should not take longer then 15 - 20 minutes!

Have fun

The Bay Downtown also has it's own parkade. The plus side to this spot would be The Bay is attached through +15 system to TD Square....top floor of TD Square is Devonian Gardens. AFter your visit there, it is just a 2 block walk east to the Glenbow Museum.

You shouldn't have too much trouble getting back out of downtown as your flight is at 3:00 pm. Gridlock starts to really hit downtown at 4:00 when everyone starts getting off work. (5:00 is when the nightmare truely starts, lol).

Just make sure you leave so you get to the airport with plenty of time for your security check.

If your stop is on a Saturday or Sunday....traffic is still busy but no huge gridlock time.

If you do get tight for time and have to pick one over the other...take the museum. Devonian Gardens is in need of some revitalization (something they always talk about doing, but never get around to). Don't get me wrong...it's nice. But if you have been at some world class gardens...you could be a little disappointed.

Calgary Transit's LRT (light rail transit train) is free within the downtown core (7th Ave & 8th St SW to 7Ave & 2 St SE), so if you park close to 7th Avenue downtown, it's a free ride to TD Square. TD Square is the home of the Devonian Gardens, NOT Eaton Centre (http://content.calgary.ca/CCA/City+Business/Buy+from+The+City/Rentals+Bookings+and+Services/Book+Devonian+Gardens/Devonian+Gardens.htm). There is an LRT stop right there. www.calgarytransit.com/Routes/lrt_stop.html
