bowron lakes

I'm planning to canoe the bowron lakes circuit this coming fall and i am trying not to rent a car from seattle where i am flying into. I know can take the train and a bus to quesnel. Is there any public transportation from quesnel to the bowron lakes?

I was curious, so did a search – doesn’t appear to be public transit.

This website - http://vts.bc.ca/bowron/parkindx.html - along with good info about canoeing the park – lists a few lodges. Perhaps in return for staying with them overnight before/after your trip, they would pick you & drop you back in town.

Looks like a wonderful place ... hope you thoroughly enjoy your trip!

I have driven into the Bowron a couple of times myself but not much exists for "public transportation". Here is the link to the major metropolis near Bowron for more ideas.

I believe that you could rent a vehicle in Quesnel from National but don't quote me.

As with the last post contact one of the organizations in the Bowron or Wells and try to arrange transportation. Renting a vehicle just to sit at the parks parking lot is not my idea of a great time unless you have to.

Enjoy the trip, I hope to take my two daughters in a couple of years.

I made a quick call to one of the guides for the area

and he commented that nothing really exists for transportation. Some of the tour guides will bring you in but you will need to pre-arrange with them (if you use them).

Call and talk to him as he has a toll free number and seemed quite helpful.

Good luck.

You can always fly from Vancouver into Prince George, which is just north of Quesnel, and then rent a car in Prince George and drive to the Bowron Lakes. I don't know how cost efficient that would be though. You'd also have to find your way to the Vancouver Airport from Seattle. The Quick Shuttle bus takes you between Seattle and Vancouver airports, however, with all the added expenses, I'm not sure sure it would be worth it. You'd save a lot of time, however, but would be missing the scenery on the way up.

WestJet often has specials between Prince George and Vancouver. www.westjet.ca
